The temple complex of Angkor Wat is undoubtedly the most famous tourist attraction in Cambodia. As one of the wonders of the world recognized by UNESCO, Angkor Wat will always be in any list of places to visit in Cambodia. The best time to visit the site is at dawn when the air is still fresh, and the crowds are yet to come. The area of the complex is over 248 square miles (400km2). King Suryavarman II built Angkor Wat in the first half of the 12th century. The architecture of the complex is breathtaking with ancient towers, temples, sculptures, etc. The structure is created with rock and decorated with lively statues of Buddha, warriors, and lotus.

The Silver Pagoda

Well, do you remember that we have mentioned Cambodia as the land of temples and pagodas? Then a list of places to visit in Cambodia cannot miss a destination like the Silver Pagoda. This renowned pagoda is located in Phnom Penh, on the left of the palace in the architectural complex of the Royal Palace of Cambodia. People prefer calling it the Temple of the Emerald-Crystal Buddha. The name “Silver Pagoda” comes from the fact that there are 5329 pieces of silver slices on the floor. This is where the king of the country uses to organize Buddhist ceremonies, so there is no abbot here.

The pagoda has a function of cultural and religious preservation rather than worshipping. It contains more than 1650 valuable treasures of gold, silver, bronze, or valuable materials made by the king, queen, nobles, or the royal family and others who attend the temple to pray. They pray for peace, prosperity, and happiness for future generations. The Silver Pagoda is obviously the most beautiful and famous in Cambodia.

Sihanoukville

Besides the vibrant Phnom Penh city – the capital of Cambodia and the mysterious town of Siem Reap, Sihanoukville with the charming seascapes is also one of the top best places to visit in Cambodia. Sihanouk City has an area of 868km², surrounded by beaches with high palm trees, a dozen of islands, primary forests in the west and south of the city, and the port trade area in the Northwest. It was not until the early of the 21st century that Sihanoukville can prove the world that it is a real diamond. White sand beaches, verdant palm trees, crystal clear water is just the first impression Sihanoukville offers.

Another famous attraction you will love to visit is the National Park Preah Sihanouk, which is actually a nature reserve established by the former king of Cambodia in 1993. The park spreads over 21000 hectares with a diversity of flora and fauna. Many exploration programs such as boat trips on rivers, visiting fishing villages, trekking through the forests, or climbing to the mountain peak, etc. are being exploited to bring visitors more options.

In addition to swimming or exploring the national park, you can also go to Victory Hill or Sihanouk Mountain – where you can see the whole panorama of this coastal city. The environs are also full of beauty spots, for example, the Golden Lion Monument, Independence Square, Victory Monument, the Lower, and Upper Pagoda. A lot of services are available – bars, restaurants, or amusement areas.

So we have just listed four places to visit in Cambodia, and we hope that this list will give you a hand on planning a perfect adventure motorbike tour to this incredible country. We wish you a memorable journey to the land of mysteries.
